While development for the HTC Jetstream has been pretty slim since its release that’s not to say the device has been abandoned totally by developers and now, some new doors have been opened. DooMLoRD has created a custom CWM based recovery and permaroot for the HTC Jetstream and made it available for download.

Let’s start off with this — no it’s not ready, and no we don’t know when it will be. Now that we got that out of the way, XDA forums member JackpotCalvin has gotten a build of CM7 to boot on the Kindle Fire. While it is still an early build, and the image rotation is off, the developer says he knows how to do some fixes to get it more polished, and we can hope for a build we can play with in the coming weeks. This is definitely a good sign for those hoping to hack up their Kindle Fire!

The HTC Thunderbolt has been quite a doozy for developers, we saw it take quite a while for the CyanogenMod team to get working data and unfortunately it seems all developers are facing the same issues. Getting the 3G / 4G LTE to work on custom ROM’s has not been an easy task, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from trying.

If you got your hands on a shiny new Atrix 2 last week and you’re feeling a bit adventureous, XDA forum member Jimmy273 has compiled a pretty straightforward manual root method to achieve coveted superuser access. Jimmy273 makes it very clear that he cannot take full credit, as he simply translated the root method for the Bionic originally created by p3droid over at the MyDroidWorld forums. Full instructions and all the necessary files are available at the source link, as is the file for the one-click method, which is said to work just fine.

I’m a bit of a themaholic. It’s not the same as a flashaholic (although I am one of those, too), but it’s in the same vein. Up until now, I had to really search for good CM7 themes, but with the discovery of this app, I’m sure my problem is only going to get much, much worse.

Here’s some good news for Sony Ericsson Xperia Play owners looking to get more out of their device’s camera. According to multiple XDA forum members, the upcoming Android 2.3.4 update for the Play will enable video recording at 720p resolution with continuous auto-focus. The software update in question isn’t widely available yet, but the reports have been confirmed by multiple users who are already rocking 2.3.4 on their devices.

If you went out and picked up a Samsung Epic 4G Touch and have plans to hack at it, here’s your starting point — zedomax at XDA has worked out a root method for the new handset, and has full details and downloads to get you on your way. You’ll need to have Samsung Kies and Odin 3 installed and running (boo!), which means this is Windows only for now, but long-time users of Samsung’s Android offerings should be used to those requirements. There’s also a note that things are still in the “experimental” stage, so caveat emptor and all that.

Last Friday we reported that a RUU (ROM update utility) containing an early beta build of Android 3.2 Honeycomb for the Flyer tablet had leaked out online. Over the past couple of days, Android hacking giants including MoDaCo’s Paul O’Brien have been busy turning the leaked RUU into a flashable ROM for rooted users. As work slowly progresses, XDA forum member globatron has managed to get the software up and running on his 32GB 3G Flyer, and has posted a couple of early screenshots to prove it.

HTC’s unreleased Sense 3.5 UI has been shown off extensively ahead of its formal introduction thanks to Chinese-language website XDA.cn. Expected to be unveiled alongside the upcoming HTC Vigor and Bliss Android smartphones, Sense 3.5 will seemingly offer some great enhancements to the UI including new animations, a new side-mounted dock and a tweaked unlock mechanism. We have repeatedly called HTC’s Sense overlay the best such offering among Android vendors and as such, it’s nice to see HTC make some solid improvements in its upcoming new version. The full 5-minute preview video follows below.

Itching to unlock your bootloader ahead of the official unlock supposedly coming with the Gingerbread update? The2dcour over at the XDA forums has posted a method that will allow you to unlock the bootloader. This isn’t a one-click root method, and it will wipe your phone’s data, but it’s amazing that a developer figured out how to do this before Motorola officially offered the option.
