Desire HD owners have had their hands on some previously leaked versions of Gingerbread, and the final shipping version of Gingerbread for the device has now appeared. It’s unbranded so you need not worry about any carrier bloat added and all apps thus far are up and running perfectly fine for me.

If you’ve rooted your Android phone, you probably have flashed a ROM or two. Or 20. If you haven’t, you will. That’s how it works; you get sucked in and its too much fun to quit. While Nandroid backups from a custom recovery are great for a full system restore, what about the equally important things like migrating text messages over to a new ROM? Or all those bookmarks you’ve collected? Or God forbid you lose your Angry Birds save with all gold eggs and three stars!

This week we have a great Dinc Sense ROM — Carbonite Fusion by trock70. Romaholic and Dinc lover (also quite the writer) PvilleComp gives us a look at this one, which delivers Sense with a very nice look and some excellent tweaks. Little touches like porting over graphics from TouchWiz, and the notification toggles gives it a really unique look and feel. I’ll let you read it for yourself, but I have to give a shout out to trock70 — this one looks like Sense done right. Thanks for the review Mike!

We can now check source code off that list though as LG has put the download up on their website for all. It may not mean a lot to the everyday user but, the source code should help plenty of developers out there get started on cooking up some custom ROM for this sexy, beast of a device. Hit the source link to get started, after that just search for “LG P999″ and it will pop right up for ya. LG via Android Police
