The newly announced Motorola Droid 4 and LG Spectrum will soon be able to roam overseas on both GSM and CDMA networks, Verizon told Phonescoop. Both devices will be running on Verizon’s 4G LTE networkin the US and because of some network issues, previous LTE phones have not been able to roam in non-CDMA markets.

Network enhancements on their way, which would make the Spectrum and Droid 4 the first to take advantage of such capabilities.

Great news for everybody looking to get an LTE phone on Verizon but also would like it to work overseas in GSM markets.

The worst-kept secret of the season has got to be the Motorola Droid 4 on Verizon. And here it is in our hot little hands. The Big Deal here is that the keyboard once again has been redesigned. The keys are now laser cut (as opposed to whatever medieval method was used previously), and they’re backlit. And they’re pretty nice. Maybe a tad slick, but they’re also pretty new. The backlight’s definitely a nice touch.

The other surprising feature on the Droid 4 is its weight. Or, lack thereof. Whereas the previous members of the Droid line were, more or less, known for their heft, the Droid 4 is surprisingly light. You’re not going to mistake it for a RAZR anytime soon, but it’s not going to cause you to list to one side while you’re walking.

One odd feature: The battery door is removable so you can get to the SIM card. But the battery itself is not removable.

The slider mechanism is decent enough, and Motorola’s implementation of Gingerbread is speedy and full of features like MOTOCAST and Smart Actions, and all the business-type software Moto can muster. The suits are going to love it. The IT department is going to love it. And even after brief use, we’re pretty sure we’re going to be pretty pleased with it.

The only question we have is this: How long until the Droid 5?

We’ve got a full hands-on after the break.

Pictures of the Motorola Droid 4 have been around for as long as late October, so we’re really not surprised to see more of them popping up. And now Technobuffalo has quite the new crop — or, rather, a new crop of pictures of a non-working dummy phone. Not a whole lot there we haven’t seen 13 different ways already — most recently on Best Buy’s website. Now all we need is some sort of official announcement, perhaps.

Best Buy’s stellar track record with Android images continues, with the Motorola Droid 4 making an appearance on the Best Buy Mobile Solutions Reward Zone section. That’d be the still-unannounced (and, hell, not even guaranteed to be released) Motorola Droid 4. That’d be the Droid 4 that looks like a Droid RAZR with a keyboard. Whoops.

We still don’t know when Verizon’s going to announce the Droid 4. One possibilty would be at CES in a couple weeks, which would make since because by all accounts the thing’s ready to go, and Verizon and Motorola are known for making a splash in Vegas. On the other hand, Verizon’s kind of in the doghouse over its LTE network — again. So we also wouldn’t be surprised to see launches delayed while that gets sorted out — again.

Motorola Droid 4, again, already? Yikes to all who recently purchased a Motorola Droid 3, but official specs on the Motorola Droid 4 have come to light. Droid-Life received a tip containing all the information about the device, and it seems like quite a spec machine.

Motorola Droid 4, again, already? Yikes to all who recently purchased a Motorola Droid 3, but official specs on the Motorola Droid 4 have come to light. Droid-Life received a tip containing all the information about the device, and it seems like quite a spec machine.

This 4G LTE device will feature a 4-inch display, powered by a 1.2GHz processor, the style of the Droid RAZR and a slide out 5 row QWERTY keyboard with LED edge lighting for the keys. The device features an 8MP camera on the back an HD camera on the front, and requires a special tool to remove the battery door? Just like we are unsure of how we feel abou the need for a special tool to pop the battery door off, we are also unsure of pricing and release time frame, but we can sure hope for soon! Hit the break for the specs breakdown.

The Motorola Droid 4 has already been spotted in all its glory but there isn’t a whole lot of info out there when it comes to a release date. Its been speculated that it would be a while yet before you can head on down to a retail location and pick one up given the Motorola Droid 3 hasn’t been out all that long but we’re not so sure about that.

Motorola has been busy as of late pushing devices out left and right and with the Motorola Droid 4 now appearing in some Verizon internal testing systems, we’re inclined once again to believe it will arrive sooner rather then later. Either way — we’re positive this is not the last we’ll hear of the device.
