If any of you out there are anything like me, there might be, from time to time, an occasion where you could just make your phone do things all automatic-like. If you don’t feel like shelling out $10 for Locale or getting a programming degree to work Tasker, where are you to turn?

Now that S-OFF can be obtained on the Droid Incredible 2 we’ve started to see some custom ROMs pop up for the device and developers have been hard at work in an effort to make everyone happy by working on root solutions and now — a leaked build of Gingerbread has appeared.

It was only a few days ago that S-OFF was achieved on the Droid Incredible 2. That of course, left the doors open for some custom ROMs to be built for the device and as such we’re now starting to see them appear in the Android Central forums. The Incredibly Debloated v1.0 ROM comes to us from xgunther and even comes in two flavors currently — one with a stock kernel and one with your selection of an overclocked kernel.

Zinio for Android just got a huge performance boost if you’re using a Tegra 2 powered Honeycomb tablet.  The app harnesses the GPU and uses full OpenGL ES acceleration for page turning animations, page panning and zooming, and to deliver high resolution scalable page images instead of downsizing them for your tablet.  The video of Zinio in action (see it after the break) shows this in a side by side test of the old versus the new.

Begun, the 3D war has.  And whether you’re a fan, or a skeptic, there are going to be two high-end phones you can’t ignore this summer that have embraced 3D technology.  First out of the gate (but just barely) is the LG Optimus 3D.  It’s a specs powerhouse, LG is promoting it as the world’s first “Tri-dual” architecture smartphone with its dual-core OMAP 4 CPU, dual-channel RAM, and dual-channel board configuration.  It’s a beast, no matter what criteria you use to measure beastliness.

The Droid Incredible 2 has been on plenty of developers’ hit lists since its release. But until now, the full potential of the device has never been unleashed. Now, thanks to the AlphaRev Team, it can be unlocked, perma-rooted and is now ready for custom ROM’s as soon as ROM cookers can get some together. The device isn’t officially on the supported device list as of yet but, it will be soon now that this testing phase has been completed.
