Back when Ice Cream Sandwich was officially announced we all took some joy in predicting what devices would and would not have upgrades heading their way and at the time — there was alot of love given to the HTC Sensation and EVO line of devices as well as the Amaze 4G. As it turns out, HTC agreed and have now put up a list of ‘First wave’ devices that will be upgraded:

If our calculations are correct, HTC just dropped more source code than we’ve got time for all weekend. To wit: we’re now seeing kernel source and Gingerbread updates for the HTC Rhyme, myTouch 4G, Jetstream, Sensation XE, EVO 4G+ (which launched in South Korea), Sensation XL and the HTC ThunderBolt, along with the proprietary binaries for ADP1.

We just spent a couple minutes with HTC’s latest and greatest, the HTC Rezound for Verizon Wireless complete with Beats audio, and it’s surely positioned as an iconic media device. It’s reasonably thin, packs 4G LTE, a super high resolution 720p display which looks amazing, and that’s not mentioning the 8-megapixel camera with improved optics and low-light performance. And then, of course, there’s Beats audio processing that will work with the included Beats headphones or ones you might already own. All in all, Verizon’s lineup for the holidays is incredible, and the HTC Rezound will surely be music to a media-centric person’s ears. Check out all of the photos in our gallery!

The HTC Rezound is here, and it’s the first in a wave of high end devices headed to Verizon Wireless this holiday season. HTC introduced the Rezound today in New York City and we managed to push through the crowd for some quality hands on time. Hit the break for full impressions.

One thing I do like about this HTC phone, if I’m seeing the pic correctly anyway, is that it appears the camera doesn’t extend beyond the back of the phone. My Dinc photo quality has deteriorated because of putting the phone down on that side the vast majority of the time, and not to mention, in my pocket of course. And no, I don’t and won’t get a cover for the phone to make it more square to the back. This will be my replacement of the Dinc in late December, unless something else great comes out by then, which is possible of course. lol The Nexus is the only other potential choice for me…since it will have NFC.

According to reports from multiple sources, the HTC Desire S is currently receiving an update to Android 2.3.5, which also bumps the mid-range handset from HTC Sense 2.1 right up to Sense 3.0. The new version of Sense, which first shipped on the Sensation earlier in the year, features a redesigned 3D launcher and lock screen setup, amongst other enhancements.

HTC has made the Gingerbread kernel source for the EVO Shift 4G, HTC Thunderbolt, and Droid Incredible available for download on their developer center website. As always, unless you’re a kernel developer or ROM chef, this won’t do too much for you — other than build anticipation for the awesome new flashables that will be coming soon for these three.

I’ve got to hand it to HTC. They continue to make beautiful-looking devices, one after another, with nary an end in sight. The latest in their lineup is the EVO Design 4G, a solid, mid-range phone that carries Sprint’s EVO branding.
