Looking for a sweet taste of Ice Cream Sandwich on your LTE model Motorola Xoom tablet? If you got some time to read, some patience and the hardware you will definitely want to check this out. Android Central forums member BasPilot has taken the time to write up a rather lengthy, detailed explanation of the process that not only tells you what to do, but also why you are doing it and breaks it down rather simply. If you are feeling risky and want to get to flashing be sure to hit the link below and get to reading!

Today AT&T announced a whole slew of Android devices, but one that really stuck out was the Pantech Burst, it is a 4G LTE device that will launch with an on contract price of only $50. Now you may be thinking you will get what you pay for on that, but fear not, you will be pleasantly surprised with this device. Featuring a 4-inch display and powered by a 1.2gHz processor the device keeps up with most other devices.

Running the Pantech skin we have seen before on the Pantech Breakout, they have updated the lockscreen giving quick and easy access to five icons as well as the unlock key, making a total of six. The device does run Android 2.3, and we are unsure of whether it will be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich. With a great price point, and solid hardware being powered by AT&T’s 4G LTE network it looks like Pantech is looking to move through these devices. Hit the break check out some more images, and stay tuned for a video walk through.

Google has updated the Google Earth app, fixing a pesky-as-hell bug that caused the app to crash during startup on Tegra 2 devices. NVIDIA uses special instructions for the Tegra chip, and while they work amazingly well when used properly (check out some Tegra games if you haven’t yet), sometimes different specialized hardware makes it difficult for the generic “works everywhere” app to use the full set of features.

That’s probably what happened with the last update for Google Earth — it certainly pushes the limit of what a mobile GPU can handle, and needed a bit of tweaking to run it all on the Tegra chips. Call it fragmentation, call it legacy, but it’s a fact of life that you have trade-offs between different hardware platforms. Google seems to have it all sorted, and now we can have our imaginary getaways to exotic virtual locations on our Tegra based tablets and phones. Hit the download link after the break or check the Market for your update.

The “Nobody knows what the hell’s going on with the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab,” saga continues today (see Part 1 and Part 2, Part 3) with the latest news now being that Samsung has no intentions of delivering a “Value Pack” upgrade. According to a Samsung source who spoke to The Next Web:

Samsung “will not offer the update due to the hardware specifications of the older Galaxy devices, in that they are limited to and fully optimised for the Gingerbread experience.”

That’ll likely frustrate some Galaxy S owners but realistically, it’s not in anyway surprising. As for the Galaxy Tab, while it’s not mention specifically — its safe to assume that’s lumped in there as well. Luckily, there is plenty of custom ROM’s floating around to keep you busy if you’re that upset over the matter.

A leaked component that is purportedly part of Apple’s unannounced iPad 3 suggests that the tablet may feature a brand new design. The new part is a microphone mic flex cable ribbon that was leaked by TVC-Mall. Unlike the iPad 2, the flex cable in the iPad 3 makes a U-Turn, suggesting additional components have been reconfigured within the iPad 3′s case. Redesigned internal hardware don’t necessarily mean the iPad 3 will will feature a cosmetic redesign, but earlier reports claimed that Apple’s new iPad would feature a thicker case in order to accomodate a high-resolution display panel that isn’t quite as slender as the iPad 2′s panel. The latest rumors suggest Apple could unveil the tablet as soon as March or April, and it may also be working on a new smaller iPad model that will launch later in the year.

We’ve known what it’s going to look like for awhile now. I want to actually hold one in my hands. Having owned a Droid X for nearly a year, I want to compare hardware in person. I’d like to see if Samsung hardware feels as cheap as people say (I’ve heard Moto is typically better) and, more importantly, if that screen is as amazing as I think it will be.

It’s not anything official, but enterprising Android developer bubby323 has ported CyanogenMod 7.2 to the Sprint Epic 4G Touch. Yes, 7.2 is Gingerbread and not the Ice Cream Sandwich everyone wants, but CM9 (the ICS-based build number) isn’t quite ready for any unsupported devices. We’ll manage with Gingerbread for a while longer.

Using device files from the TeamHacksung Github, bubby and friends have got a semi-complete ROM built and running, and while probably not ready for a daily driver, it’s more than complete enough for anyone who wants to test an AOSP-like experience on this hardware. Notable missing functions include 911 calling (let’s hope it isn’t an issue similar to the Vibrant), Wimax data, SMS and MMS from the native messaging client, GPS and external SD card mounting. Early reports seem positive, and users certainly love the freedom from TouchWiz. The folks are hard at work fixing the bugs and getting all the features up and running, if you’re rooted and up to helping test be sure to hit the source link and have a look.

We’ve all seen this by now — it’s webOS booted up on an EVO 3D, and it’s got everyone in a tizzy. While webOS fans who have spent decades (it seems like decades anyway) having the horrible hardware of the Pre and Pixi have reason to be excited, everyone seems to be getting ahead of themselves.

This has nothing to do with today’s news of HP open-sourcing webOS. In fact, Ryan Hope, the fellow who did it and took these pics is more than happy to tell everyone they are three months old. To top it all off, nothing is working and it’s not even close to being usable.

Think of it as an early SDK port of ICS, like the ones we saw last month — those ones where radios, cameras, even the touch interface didn’t work. The EVO 3D has the same basic internals as the TouchPad, so getting webOS booting (which is a far cry from actually running) was an awesome project to start on. Now that Mr. Hope and others will be getting source code, expect this sort of thing to happen for real. In the meantime, stop bugging your favorite webOS and Android developers and let them enjoy the day — it will come soon enough.
