Online retailer Wirefly is holding a special 24-hour sale on Wednesday, during which customers can score a new HTC EVO 3D for just $99.99 on contract. As part of Wirefly’s “Fan Appreciation Month,” the retailer is offering discounts on a new smartphone every Wednesday in August. HTC’s EVO 3D is the star of this month’s show, and we called it “one hell of a compelling package” when we reviewed it back in June. So how does it work? Simply dig the coupon code out of the YouTube video below and apply it during checkout on Wirefly’s site via the read link. Sprint’s flagship 4G smartphone will then be rushed to your door by FedEx, and your pockets will only be $100 lighter.

If you had to pick one of the most influential smartphones of the past year or so, there’s little doubt the HTC EVO 4G would be high up on the list, if not atop it. It was the first 4.3-inch smartphone. The first 4G smartphone. And it it brought with it that sense of style that is a trademark for HTC.

If you’re the serious tinkering type (as opposed to the rest of us who just like to occasionally break things), it’s time to check out HTCdev.com. Two-thirds of the site, announced at the beginning of June, are now live. The OpenSense SDK gives developers easy access to take advantage of all of the HTC Sense APIs and add-ons. (For example, the tablet pen for the HTC Flyer.)

I know everyone got really excited when AlphaRev and UnrEVOked unveiled their latest project, Revolutionary, myself included. Now that we’ve had a few days to settle into and, simmer down, and enjoy our new, freer phones, I realized there was a startling lack of Lloyd splash screens out there for flashing and consumption.

It’s been nearly a month since HTC’s last updated us on how it intends to start unlocking bootloaders, and it the Taiwanese manufacturer just dropped a doozy of an update on Facebook. Here’s the deal:

Today’s the day, folks. The Motorola Photon 4G is now available in Sprint stores and online. And if you couldn’t tell from Part 1 of our Photon 4G review, we’re slightly over the moon about this one. Between the 4.3-inch touchscreen (Pentile display notwithstanding), dual-core 1GHz processor and that it’s running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, plays Netflix out of the box — and has Sprint’s Wimax data — it’s quickly found itself as our new favorite on Sprint.

LG’s mighty proud of the Thrill 4G, and we can’t say we blame them — check out the hands-on and see why. To celebrate the launch, they threw a big bash on July 25 in New York with musical guest Jane’s Addiction, and the concert footage from the party is now on line for every one to have a look at. At their ComeAlive Youtube channel, they’ve dropped nine videos of the band having a loud good time, as well as the crowd. Maybe even more interesting to us Android fans, on Aug. 4 they will be uploading a full documentary shot in 3D with the LG Thrill 4G to their channel. Should make for a great look on any stereoscopic 3D device, like the Optimus 3D or the EVO 3D. Of course with word that the LG Thrill may be delayed, it’s may be a few weeks until you can actually watch in on a Thrill. In the meantime, check out the band at the source link.

Like many of you out there, I believe in the Gospel of Root. The first thing I did when I picked up my EVO 4G was root it and stick CyanogenMod on it. My phone was fast, utterly Senseless, and if I needed it, available to tether in a pinch. Because of that, apps like EasyTether seemed like a waste.

It’s high time we talk about the way we act and represent ourselves, both here at Android Central and across the intertubes. Cruise through any smartphone forums or blog comments, and you’ll soon see a common theme. We like to argue, sometimes to the point of acting the fool. I’ll admit — I can get a bit snarky, and have probably caused an admin or two more trouble than I should, so I’m not pointing fingers at anyone in particular. But I can bet that anytime I’m reading a story about LTE, I’ll see people digging about price or downtime. Or if it’s about the EVO 3D, I’ll read how Sprint’s coverage “sucks.” I won’t even get started on what a T-Mobile- or AT&T-based story turns into. Well, here’s a hint:
