Not to long ago a rumor popped up that video game retailer, GameStop — would be developing their own Android tablet to sell in their retail locations. Seems a portion of the rumors were true at this point as GameStop has now reportedly teamed up with Asus, Acer, and Samsung to offer up ‘specialized’ Android tablets pre-loaded with seven quality Android games and support for the GamesStops own tablet controller.

The Toshiba Thrive was one of the first 10-inch Android Honeycomb tablets with full-size port — and it’ll be joining the expanding ranks of 7-inch tablets come December.
Officially dubbed the Toshiba Thrive 7″, it’ll sport a 1280×800 resolution with Toshiba’s Adaptive Display and Resolution+ video enhancements, stereo speakers, a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, and be available in either 16- or 32-gigabytes. It’ll run Android 3.2, powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual processor.

Holy moly. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I downloaded this game. I’ve got this nice, shiny Thrive to check out tablet apps on, and this was featured, so I figured “Why not?” Lemme tell ya, as far as Android games go, one of the best decisions I could have made.

It looks like Gameloft has been adding some games in the Android Market recently. The company is known for having some great mobile games, but restricitng their purchases through their own online store. But in a recent interview with Reuters, Gameloft’s Chief Executive Michel Guillemot said that the company is looking to bring their games to the Amazon Appstore.

What started off as a rather small showing in the Android Market, OpenFeint is now adding is now adding over 3 million new Android users a month and have increased their gaming catalog 46 percent in just two months, making the grand total of available games 460 and growing. Good news if you’re someone who someone who plays any of Gameloft’s Android games. Word on the street is that Gameloft has enhanced their DRM to allow patrons to re-download their purchased games on new devices. Previously, you had to go through customer service when you got a new device, but how times have changed.
