If you’re anything like we are here at Android Central, you love suggestions about must-have apps. Nothing brightens our day more than finding that new essential app that makes you wonder what life was like before it. Here are some of our favorites from the past week for your downloading pleasure.
The question on everyone’s mind this week following the crash of Verizon’s LTE network and the delay of the Samsung Droid Charge is “When will the phone finally go on sale?” If the above screen shot is any indication, Tuesday may be the day.
Look out, all you tweakers and overclockers — there’s a new kid on the block who’s likely to take the throne in very short order — the Samsung Galaxy S 2. Right out of the box it’s an awesome performer, chewing through benchmark tests like candy even with less than optimized software on board. We’re hearing from all over about how smooth and quick it is, and everyone seems pretty darn impressed.
If we were Verizon, we’d probably just point to the subscriber scoreboard, stick our hands in our pockets (filled with cash) and walk away from T-Mobile’s taunts. And maybe say something about people in glass houses.
If you’ve rooted your Android phone, you probably have flashed a ROM or two. Or 20. If you haven’t, you will. That’s how it works; you get sucked in and its too much fun to quit. While Nandroid backups from a custom recovery are great for a full system restore, what about the equally important things like migrating text messages over to a new ROM? Or all those bookmarks you’ve collected? Or God forbid you lose your Angry Birds save with all gold eggs and three stars!
Desire HD owners have had their hands on some previously leaked versions of Gingerbread, and the final shipping version of Gingerbread for the device has now appeared. It’s unbranded so you need not worry about any carrier bloat added and all apps thus far are up and running perfectly fine for me.
